More Than Friends?

After locking lips with one another in the 'Right By My Side' video, Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has credited the chemistry between her and rapper Nas in making that moment work.
The music video, which premiered in May, shows a passionate on-screen moment between the two Queens rappers where Nas played her boyfriend.
"Outside of the kiss, it just had so much chemistry. It seemed like a real relationship, like just a real hood relationship and I wanted to portray that," Nicki told Tim Westwood.
"I wanted the song to feel like your around the way relationship because there’s so much love in that. So much passion is there."
With the pair sharing a lot of passionate moments in the romantic video also featuring Chris Brown, it sounds like Minaj may be trying to get at something there.

Snoop Dogg arrested
Snoop Dogg has been arrested in Norway.
The American rapper was reportedly detained at the Kjevik Airport in Kristiansand after he was found to be carrying marijuana and more cash than he legally should have been.

Police reportedly found eight grams of the drug on the hip-hop star after a sniffer dog alerted them.


Although Norwegian law means suspects cannot be named, it has been widely reported that the incident involved Snoop.


The details remain hazy, with TMZ claiming Snoop was fined $1980.13 for the drugs offences.


Other reports suggest he paid $8,600 in total, with the rest of the charge apparently linked to the cash he was carrying.


Snoop is in the European country to perform at a music festival later tonight.


It's not the first time the 40-year-old star has been arrested for cannabis possession. In January, several cigarettes containing the substance were found in his tour bus while he was in Texas.


He has faced similar arrests over the years, receiving a suspended 30-day jail sentence in 2002 for misdemeanour marijuana possession.

A-R-M-E-D R-O-B-B-E-R-Y: Two members of Ogun royal family arrested

Two members of one of the ruling royal families in Ogun State suspected to be armed robbers met their waterloo last Sunday when men of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Ogun State intercepted them with blood-stained jeep that was recently robbed in Lagos.


Nemesis caught up with the two  suspects identified as, Ademola Adeniyi and Ajayi Adesina after they allegedly offered the sum of N500,000 to the customs officers to evade arrest shortly after a robbery operation at 5am.  Their attempts were however rebuffed by the men of the Customs who insisted that they must face the music.


The Comptroller of Customs in the state,Akande Bamidele who paraded the suspects before handing them over to police said Adesina was initially  arrested with  Acura MDX with no number plate and later his colleague in crime, Ademola, was also nabbed with one Passat marked, Abuja KWL 560 AA, in Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State.


Addressing newsmen shortly before the display of 406 cartons of frozen poultry products worth three million naira, the comptroller said Ajayi was  initially arrested with the blood-stained Acura and he later called his alleged ring leader,  Ademola on phone to rescue him.


The Customs boss further disclosed that the second suspect, Ademola later arrived the scene in a lemon-green Passat and begged the custom officers to release his colleague in crime and then offered them bribe.   According to him, the suspects who were later handed over to the police in the state made confessional statements confirming that they robbed at gun point at Bariga in Lagos that Sunday.


“On close examination, we discovered that they are hardened criminals, we saw human blood on the Acura and we have every reason to suspect that the other car brought by Adeniyi was stolen,that is why we are handing the case over to the police.


While receiving the suspects on behalf of the police state command, the Head of Ogun Police Command state Criminal Investigations Department, Mr. Fola Ogunkoya promised to investigate the case and subsequently charge them to court after completion.


Meanwhile, the state command of Nigeria Customs service has impounded no fewer than 406 cartons of frozen food at Idi-Iroko and Imeko-Afon axis of the state.   According to Akande, the Custom boss, our drive is to plug all points of entry of these hazardous and banned product in its  intensity and we shall not relent in order to safeguard the health of the nation and its citizens.


“Only last two weeks, 374 cartons of these frozen poultry valued at N1,383,000 were seized at Idi-Iroko axis and last week, 406 carton of these same items valued at N1,827,000 were seized along Idi-roko-Imeko axis”, Akande said.

After reports this week of a boxing promoter making an offer of $1 million to both artists to fight each other three rounds in the ring, a rep for the 'Turn Up The Music' singer has denied that.
"We’ve never heard of any offer," Chris's rep told RumorFix.
"It’s just someone trying to get press for themeselves."
The website reports that the promoter is planning on holding a press conference in Los Angeles this Friday to show how serious he is about his offer according to.
If the fight is to go ahead once the challenge is accepted, it has already been planned that it will be in aid of a generous $1 million donation to a charity that helps abused women and would be staged in Las Vegas or Los Angeles on August 25.

My new image

A lot of people were present the day that I officially changed my name from Kenny St. Brown to Kenny St. Best. They didn’t understand what I was talking about. I knew the name was going to be larger than life. A lot of people may not know the difference between both names. Kenny St. Brown’s experience was devastating and it drowned whatever she had achieved and worked for. People didn’t believe in Kenny St. Brown anymore. They remembered the songs, but her image had been rubbished and it looked like anything that Kenny St. Best achieved didn’t matter. So, I had to switch to Kenny St. Brown or KSB for short, which is supposed to be a new, fresh, young, social and non religious personality. All I did was to inject fresh value to Kenny St. Brown through KSB. I didn’t see it coming. Nor did I plan it. But I recalled that when Whitney Houston died and she was a Mrs. Brown. I could compare her experiences to mine. But in her case, she wasn’t able to transform into a new personality. Hard drugs had kept her going. She wasn’t even in control of her mind. Something else dominated her mind and she started taking drugs. I’m not being self righteous, but my own drugs were the words I got from the Holy Bible. I could ingest it anytime and it kept me going. When Whitney died, I realised how much I had idolised her before I started ingesting the word of God as if it were narcotics. Even I became a Mrs. Brown, just like Whitney. And I wanted to be everything that she was. Whitney came on board when I was in the university and she was ruling the whole world. We are in the same age group. I wanted to be like her at all costs. But in the middle of my journey in life, God caught up with me. It was actually the Twitter fight that made me change my name to Kenny St. Best. A lot of people were angry with what I said on Twitter when Whitney died. I had compared my life with her hers. But my supporters on Twitter told me that if the name ‘Brown’ would get me into this kind of mess, I might as well stop bearing it. If it could affect Whitney the way it did, it might affect me too. So they asked me why I was still sticking to the name. Some people suggested that I should go back to Kenny St. Ogungbe. But I took it back to God and asked Him what I should do and He told me to drop it. I asked Him what name I should answer and He gave me ‘Best.’

Divorce

I had recovered my past before I changed my name to Kenny St. Best. But my life was moving at snail speed. Wait and see how much progress I will make as Kenny St. Best. I have a new personality. I have a new style and attitude. A lot of things were associated with the name Kenny St. Brown. People said she was a bad girl, a lesbian, and many other things. Sometimes, when I enter a hall and somebody wants to smile at me, the person would suddenly withdraw. But I am a fighter. I got separated from my husband about six years ago. I’m not divorced yet. I’m only separated from him. It is just recently that I decided to get a divorce. I didn’t consider it an issue before now. Right now, I have started the process of getting it. I am not with a man here. No man is living with me. It is not as if there is a new man in my life who is answering ‘Mr. Best.’ I am still myself. Yet, stories keep flying everywhere about me. I have ingested the word of God. It is good to study the word. Getting a divorce was not an issue. It didn’t matter to me.

Why I am not in a hurry to remarry

God has not told me that it is time to get married again. Instead, He told me that this is the time to add value to my life so that I can impact on other people’s lives. For now, He wants my work to be appreciated in the best way possible. When a marriage fails, it is a friendship that has failed. My advice to people is that they should not go into marriage and have a ‘my husband’ or ‘my wife’ kind of relationship in the marriage. It is best to have a ‘my friend’ kind of relationship. Let your wife or husband be your friend. Don’t be in a hurry to marry somebody after a few months of meeting him or her. You have to be that person’s friend first. If you don’t develop that kind of intimacy, he will be going to night clubs all the time.

Dagrin and I

I don’t watch Dagrin’s movie any longer. Each time I do, I am always devastated. He wanted to leave a lot of messages behind, but he couldn’t. However, he encouraged youths to follow their dreams. No matter what happens and how other people try to pull you down, stick to your dream. Let your passion pursue you. Being a thief or a fraudster is not a dream. Dagrin said he had lived all kinds of life, but wasn’t satisfied. Something kept urging him to follow his dream, which was music. When he was sure he was done with his duty, he told us not to cry when he was done. He knew he was going to die. It was against all odds for him. I love him. He is in my heart. I am more drawn to younger people now, musically. I picked that up from Dagrin.

Motivating other people

I am a natural counsellor. I counsel people with my songs, too. I inspire them. I am always thinking of how to put a smile on my neighbour’s face. I have conquered my world. I have conquered shame and I have conquered death. Death cannot come to me again. I must be willing to die before death will come to me. If you can survive a mess, people will get a message from that mess. I don’t write people off, I talk to them. Some people may not handle certain situations in their lives; so I try to accommodate them. That is why I am a youth coach. That is why I am a motivational speaker and that is why I am a singer.

How I overcame scandals

God saw me through every scandal and blackmail. I was an experiment of healing in His hands. I remember when the marriage of a certain female musician broke up. Somebody told her to come and see me. She wasn’t even my friend, but she came to me. She told me to help her get her mind and head back. God helped us and she moved on and she blew up. She is so massive now. I am supposed to be a bridge for somebody. God made me to survive. God gave me His words and the words became flesh and worked through me. I cannot boast that I did anything extra. When it was time to cry, I cried. When it was time to stand up, I stood up. When it looked as if I couldn’t stand and my legs wobbled, God sent some people to help me out. Many friends of mine were there for me. My mother and my siblings were there for me. Keke (Ogungbe), my brother, would call me and tell me to get up from where I was and dress up and go to an event so that people would see me. He told me if I wasn’t able to break off from scandal, I would find it difficult to break off from it and it would become my identity for the rest of my life. He encouraged me to dress well and go out with Essence all the time. He said people would say all kinds of things, but that we should face the shame now and break its power over us.

My relationship with Essence

In spite of the rumour that Essence was my lesbian partner, I still moved on with her. I’m still moving on with her. She lived in my house for awhile and only just moved out. We are still holding each other’s hands. When I’m weak, she is strong for me and when she is weak, I’m strong for her. People can’t understand how a girl can be a friend to another woman. You will not really blame such people because of what is happening in the world today. Essence is a girl that God gave me to mentor. I’m happy she is a blessing to the society rather than being a menace. She knew she wanted to do music and she found her mentor early and she held her. I found her as my protégé, somebody to mentor. I was with her all through. Now somebody out there decided to say that we are lesbians. It is pathetic. But we still overcame the scandal. God has blessed her. She is my pride and I can stand with her. She saw me go through a difficult period in my life. She is so strong now. There is nothing she cannot face. I have told her to pick somebody she can mentor so that the chain will continue.

Hollywood A-listers Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing, bringing an end to a five-year marriage.


The office of celebrity divorce lawyer Jonathan Wolfe confirmed the divorce. "This is a personal and private matter," he said in a statement.


They have a six-year-old daughter, Suri, and Cruise, 49, has two children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.


Cruise married Holmes, 33, his third wife, in an Italian castle in November 2006.


A spokesman for Cruise told the BBC: "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."


TMZ News has reported that Holmes filed divorce papers in New York on Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences, and that she is seeking sole custody of their daughter.


Scientology wedding


The divorce brings to an end a relationship that began with very public declarations of affection.
Holmes once admitted she had a childhood crush on the Hollywood celebrity, while Cruise famously jumped on a sofa on the Oprah Winfrey Show as he declared his love for Holmes.


"I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back. Something happened and I want to celebrate it," Cruise said in his appearance on the show.


Cruise proposed to Holmes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the couple were married by a Church of Scientology minister.


The couple, who have not been seen together since February, are estimated to be worth about $275m (£175m) combined.

Indian hemp peddler arrested for armed robbery
A suspected peddler of Indian hemp, Onyeka Iloulo, 32, has been arrested by law enforcement agents in Ogun State for his alleged role in a robbery incident in the Mowe area of the state.

CRIME DIGEST learnt that the suspect was apprehended by men of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweeran, after he and four others, three of whom are still at large, attempted to dispossess one Ismaila of his Nissan Xterra Sports Utility Vehicle, valued at N1.8m, at gunpoint on June 13, 2012.


Investigations showed that while the robbers attempted to snatch the vehicle from Ismaila, and probably to scare him, one of the hoodlums fired a gun into the air two times. When he tried to shoot the third time, the gun jammed. Immediately Ismaila noticed this, he raised the alarm and attracted the attention of passers-by.


Recounting what happened, a source close to the police said, “On June 13, around 11.10 pm, Iloulo, Nwankwo, who is now deceased and three others, attempted to dispossess one Ismaila of his car, an Xterra SUV. While they were attempting to rob him, the man immediately raised the alarm and the people around came to his rescue.


“When the robbers saw the mob coming towards them, they abandoned their mission and escaped in a Toyota Carina E saloon car. In their bid to make a quick escape, they left Nwankwo, one of their members, behind.”


CRIME DIGEST gathered that Nwankwo collided with a speeding motorcycle and was seriously injured. Seeing that he was down, the mob pounced on him and dealt him several blows.


The suspected robber did not recover from the beating. But before his death, Nwankwo led the police to the gang’s hide-out where Iloulo was arrested. A member of the gang, Orji, escaped with bullet wounds.  Two locally-made double barrelled pistols were recovered with 13 live cartridges.


Iloulo told CRIME DIGEST that this was the first time he was involved in armed robbery. He confessed to being a hemp peddler and that his business often took him to neighbouring West African countries.


He said that the reason he got involved in robbery was because he got into trouble with law enforcement agents in Guinea. He stated that he was almost caught with drugs and had to run away; he said the incident rendered him broke.


Iloulo said, “I travel a lot. I go to Benin Rep., Ghana, Guinea and Togo to sell Indian hemp. Nwankwo was my village boy; he was the one that introduced me to the group. I had a problem in Guinea so I could not travel. Nwankwo and Orji came to me with guns and told me that they use it to snatch cars.


“They said that when they snatch some cars, they would give me some money to get back on my feet. They also said that they would want me to show them how to go about the business of peddling hemp. I did not join them in the robbery. I only released my car for them to use.


“The plan was that I wasn’t going to join them, but when they get the money they would give me my share. I was sure that the money was going to be enough for me to continue my business. The day they went for the operation, they did not succeed as they encountered some problems.


“This is the first time that I am involved in armed robbery. They were the one that came to me. If you ask my landlord, he would testify that I am hardly at home. I can be home for a week, the next two or three weeks I would be out of the country that is how I travel. I was almost caught with drugs in Guinea so I had to escape.


“I have no money again. The person I gave my car to absconded with it when the robbery operation was not successful. I asked my family members for some money to travel, but they did not come up with it if not I would have travelled. On Saturday, they came to my house to raid; that is how I got here.”


The source stated that it was difficult to believe Iloulo’s claims because of the guns found in his house. He said that the house was situated deep in the bush and it had an escape route. CRIME DIGEST gathered that the day the house was raided, the hoodlums were in a festive mood. “There was a lot of alcoholic drink and meat in the house when we got there,” the source said.


The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He said that the case was still being investigated. Adejobi said that once investigation was concluded, the suspect would be charged to court on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye.

Child Abuse Mom Pours Hot Water On Step Son

The alarming human in humanity that reigns supreme in most polygamous homes has just played a fast one on a young boy whose step-mother poured hot water on.


The increasing rate of home abuse, wife battery, especially child molestation, maltreating, and abuse calls for serious and quick intervention by all.

Ola in a critical condition is said to be under a serious intensive care in a hospital around Igando area of Lagos. His step-mum who works with the Lagos Internal Revenue Service took laws into and hands and punished him for beating her little daughter by pouring hot water on him while asleep. 
Read the story as it's being said by the youngster; “the argument that led to the sad incident started when my step-mum saw me beat my sister, she got very angry and wanted to harm me back in anger, she reached for and did all she could physically, I tried to defend myself but she overpowered me. 


She got more furious after my father and some neighbors tried to stop her, and she started scattering the house and even broke bottles. 

My uncle who also lives around was able to drag her away from the house. I was still sleeping on my bed the next morning, when she walked into my room and bathed me with hot water; I staggered to the living room and saw my father and uncle. That was the last I remembered before I passed out and woke at the hospital."
"The father said his brother came into the house around 4:30am the next morning to settle the rift that occurred the previous day; they all sat in the living room, when the wife stood up and went into the kitchen. She was going in and out, and they thought she was preparing herself for work, not until Ola walked out of the room, looking weak and skin peeled, and fainted on the ground. We quickly rushed him to the hospital, while she stood staring and mocking him for calling out for help." His Uncle narrated


Meanwhile, the case has been reported at the police station, while the boy is still at the hospital wallowing in serious pain, and the step-mum has disappeared into thin air.

Cameroonian striker and the world’s highest paid footballer, Samuel Eto’o, may be facing between one and five years in a Spanish prison over tax fraud allegation.


According to media reports from Spain, he has been accused of conspiring to evade 3.5 million euros in taxes owed on income from his image rights while he was playing for FC Barcelona between 2006 and 2009.

7 feared dead as flood sweeps Lagos


LAGOS — Residents of Lagos State were, yesterday, enveloped by flood following heavy downpour that started Wednesday night.
A number of houses and roads were submerged by the flood caused by the rain that lasted several hours.
Sections of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway were cut off on both sides by the flood, leading to a gridlock.

       Lagos yesterday — : Rescue bid almost turned tragic in Shogunle as flood sweeps Lagos
Many road users were forced to return home or seek alternative routes, while others remained at the spot, waiting for the flood to abate.


A portion of Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road by Mobil Filling Station was submerged, as were some areas in Mafoluku, Oshodi.


Many residents could not make it to their offices and business places yesterday as most areas in the state were heavily flooded.


Vanguard learnt that in some areas, many property were swept away and some major roads in the state were blocked.

Some of the worst hit areas include: Popo Igunnu, Jimoh and Ago-Hausa Streets, all in Okokomaiko, Iba Local Council Development Area; Jakande in Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area; Sango, Igi avenue, GRA Ikeja, Gbolahan Bankole Street in Igando LCDA, Aboru; Ipaja-Ayobo, Shogunle, Apapa, among others.


Aiyepe Street in Itire, Canal Pepple Road, Shomolu, Agbado-Ijaiye, Ikola, Agbado-Okeodo LCDA, Akintan, Cele, Bakery Bus Stop, all in Ejigbo LCDA; Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation , NNPC at Ejigbo LCDA had its fence destroyed during the downpour.


Disaster on bridge linking Lagos and Ogun


The bridge linking Lagos and Ogun states at Ayobo, in Ayobo/Ipaja Local Council Development Area, was submerged.


Six adults and a child were reportedly carried away by the flood while they attempted to cross from Ogun to Lagos State.

At Okokomaiko, over 500 pupils of Fazil Omar Ahmadiya public Nursery and Primary School 1, 11 and 111, were sent home by the Headmaster after the entire school premises was flooded.

A pupil of the school, Chukwuemeka  Amadi said that one of the headmistresses of the three schools, Mrs. Asa sent them home because the entire premises including the classrooms had all been submerged in flood.


On Jimoh Street, the flood destroyed property of the residents leaving many to bail out water from their living rooms.


Mr. Sam Adebowale, a resident of the area, said that the water destroyed their property because their living rooms were submerged by the flood.


Adebowale lamented that the damage was due to the fact that the drainage canals servicing the area were not cleared by the state government before the commencement of the rain.


At Jakande in Okokomaiko, residents groaned as they were left stranded for hours because the commercial vehicles and Motor cycle operators popularly called Okada plying the routes refused to ply the flooded road.


One of the drivers, Mr. Fatai Olawale, said they could not ply the road because the over 10 kilometre road had been flooded.


Vanguard gathered that motorists who summoned the courage to convey passengers got stranded as their vehicles broke down on the road.


At the Aboru area of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, not less than 50 houses were said to have been flooded.


At Alabede area, many residents managed to wade through the flood successfully as buses and motorcycles refused to convey them beyond that area.


At the time of this report, residents of Isheri-Olofin, Egbe-Idimu LCDA were still wallowing in the flood and calling for the state government’s attention.


The flooding of the area, which they said started since seven years ago, got worse recently with the diversion of a drainage channel to the area by the Chinese Construction Company, CCECC, during the construction of the LASU-Iba Road. They claimed that they had sent series of letters to the authorities over their plight to no avail.


The neighbouring communities in Ogun State were also affected. Some of  the residents had their properties swept away.


Residents who lamented the situation said it took them hours to even leave their homes for work in the morning.


Monarch cries out


The Alado of Abule Ado in Oriade Local Council Development Area, yesterday, cried out over the inability of his people to either move out or return to their homes.


The Oba said: “This is to inform the state government that Abule Ado bridge has collapsed over night. We have been cut off completely.


Our students, market women, workers and others cannot go out or come in. An urgent intervention is needed.”


One confirmed dead as fence collapses in Bariga


One person was confirmed dead when the fence of a building  at  34/40 Shogbamu Street collapsed on another building at 2 Community Street Ita–Baale, Bariga Lagos.


The unfortunate incident which occurred at about 1am during the heavy rain, killed a 22-year-old male whose name was given as Ahmed Shotuminu.


It was a pathetic sight at the scene of the incident when Vanguard visited as the people wore gloomy looks. The remains of the deceased, who was said to have recently graduated from a furniture making workshop was being prepared for burial.


A resident who gave his name as Seyi Odubanjo, narrated that the fence collapsed at about 1am when the rain was falling heavily, adding that the victim and his younger brother were in the house when suddenly the fence crashed into their apartment.


“The two of them stay in the boy’s quarter of the main building and were both fast asleep when the fence collapsed. But Ahmed was not as lucky as his brother who escaped with minor injury.


“The bricks fell on him and he died instantly, I was sleeping in my house which is opposite their apartment when a call came in that building has collapsed on them and I should come and assist. I quickly rushed to the scene but we could only see his leg while the rest of his body was covered in rubbles.”


Fresh warning


Meantime, the Lagos State Government has again warned residents to be prepared for heavy rainfall accompanied with severe windstorm within the next two weeks, which has been envisaged to be the peak period of this year’s rainy season.


The alert was given by Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, while monitoring state of the environment during the rains in the state.


The commissioner  urged residents living along low line areas of Eti-Osa, Badiya, Amukoko, Makoko, Iwaya, Ajegunle, Owode, Agiliti among others to vacate those areas during this period, and move upland as the intense rains would be accompanied with windstorm.


In case of emergency, residents were implored to take full advantage of Drainage Engineers and Drainage Maintenance officers posted to all the 57 local Government Council Areas of the state, and relate with them effectively to solve their drainage challenges.


Bello, explained that the officers are readily available to provide relief and solutions to all flooding challenges in each Local Government area of the state.

Lagos urges motorists to be cautious

The Lagos State Government has also appealed to all road users especially motorists to observe and obey road traffic signs and other traffic rules and regulations in the state.

Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa who gave the advice said that motorists needed to be more safety conscious, drive with care and ensure that their vehicles are road worthy before putting them on the road especially during the rainy season.

He urged them to ensure that their windscreen wipers were in proper working order and that their tyres were also in good condition before embarking on any journey.

Opeifa reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to safety of lives and property and  implored all drivers to avail themselves the opportunity of attending any of the five driving institutes established by the government for re-certification and also to enhance professionalism.

The commissioner noted that officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be on hand to assist motorists, while the personnel of Vehicle Inspection office (VIO) had been directed to intensify efforts and ensure non road worthy vehicles were not on the roads.

Arsenal to play Nigeria's Super Eagles in Abuja August 5
English Premier League club Arsenal will play the Super Eagles in a pre-season match in Abuja on August 5.

It will be the first time the Gunners have played in the West African country.


Nigeria, ranked 60th in the latest FIFA rankings, face Arsenal who finished third in the English league last season.


According to promoters, DanJan Sports, agreement has been finalised with the Nigeria Football Federation.


“We are delighted to announce that Arsenal Football Club will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja,” David Omigie of DanJan Sports said.


“The NFF have agreed that the country will present a strong side as coach Stephen Keshi continue his development process.


“The Arsenal manager (Arsene Wenger) will also use this game to showcase his full squad for the 2012/2013 football season.”


The London club traditionally hosts an annual pre-season tournament at the Emirates Stadium, but they opted to postpone the event for a year because of the 2012 London Olympics.


The visit to Nigeria will conclude Arsenal’s pre-season tour after playing in both China and Malaysia in July.


On their official website Arsenal said, “The club last visited Africa during a tour to South Africa in July 1993, and is returning as a result of the fantastic support which exists for the team, not only in Nigeria, but across the entire continent.”


It was also said that the  tickets for the upcoming friendly match with Nigeria will go on sale from July 4 across outlets to be announced soon.


In July 2008, they brought two other English clubs, Manchester United and Portsmouth, to the Nigerian capital Abuja for a pre-season friendly.


As well as the match between the two, Portsmouth also played against Nigeria Premier League side Kano Pillars.

 We hope this gist is not true but a source close to the 'Ace' crooner in the 90's confessed to Nigeriafilms.com that Sir Shina Peters fondly called SSP, allegedly begged Gani Adams for money.


According to the gist, SSP, whose last album failed to make any impact in the industry, recently clocked 54. In other to celebrate his birthday, SSP allegedly turned himself to an executive beggar.


He was said to have done this during the birthday of the highly controversial OPC leader, Otunba Gani Adams. 


But one disturbing question is, if this gist is true, what could have made SSP do this? Where was Gani Adams when SSP was ruling the Nigerian music industry in the 90's?


Almost every music lovers in Nigeria danced to SSP's Juju melody when he was the king of Nigerian music scene. Sir Shina Peter seems to be fading out of the music scene now dominated by the younger generations. 


We were told that he reportedly made several efforts to get across to Gani Adams for his birthday gift but all to no avail. Hmmm! We hope this is not true but efforts to get through to SSP on this gist proved abortive.
