Eight ladies complete national finals list
Eight more immaculate, alluring, intelligent and beautiful ladies have qualified for the national finals of this year's Miss Ghana beauty pageant.

This brings to twenty, the complete number of contestants selected for the national finals, set to be held in September.

At the last of three nationwide zonal auditions held in Accra over the weekend, the Capital's trendy, sophisticated, and witty young ladies between the ages of 18 and 25, turned up in their numbers to audition for what would later go down as a keenly contested selection process.

After three days of engaging the contestants in various tasks including but not limited to marketing activation, and speech and oral presentation, the judges including AMAA award-winning actor Majid Michel, television presenter Nana Aba Anamoah, Barrak El-Mahmoud, a professional photographer, Ali Jihami of Ghandour Cosmetics and Inna Maryam Patty of Exclusive Events Ghana, were convinced at the depth of quality, knowledge and finesse displayed by the eight out of the over 300 who auditioned.

The eight finalists include a 22 year-old Medical student of the University of Ghana Carranzer Naa Okailey Shooter, Dzifa Dellor, 21, also of the University of Ghana, Jennifer Annan, 22, of the University of Development Studies, Nadia Ntanu, 23, of the Pentecost University in Accra, Nana Foriwaa Oppong, 23 of the Central University College, Adwoa Ofori Afriyie, 21, of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Abena Apiah , 19, and Rosaline Okoro, 23, also of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

This year Ghana's Capital, Accra, is represented by Naa and Abena while Afriyie and Nadia represent the Western Region. The Central Region is fully represented by the able heads of Foriwaa and Rosaline while the adorable Dzifa and lovely Jennifer will be seeking to bring glory to the Volta Region.

Apart from the Accra (Southern Belt) auditions, similar exercises were also held in Kumasi (Middle Belt) and in Tamale (Northern Belt) to select deserving and worthy finalists for this year's event.

All twenty will be camped and groomed for what is anticipated to be a grand and fitting final.

This year's finals take place in September. It is being held under the theme “Evolution of Beauty”.

Stephanie Okereke's Hubby, Linus Idahosa Bags Double Doctorate Degrees

Linus Idahosa, the husband of sexy Nollywood actress, Stephanie Okereke, has been conferred with two double doctorate degrees from the Common Wealth University, Belize and a London Graduate school in Dubai.

The former 2008 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) runner-up announced this today.

According to the LG electronics and Kanekalon Hair ambassadors, "congratulations to my hubby on his conferred combined Doctorate Degree by the Common Wealth University Belize and the London Graduate School Convocation in Dubai- Hello Dr. Linus Idahosa!"

Oriental Hotel in Car Theft Mess As Celeb's Car Vanishes Into Thin Air

Popular TV presenter, Yvonne Vixen is no doubt presently not a happy woman. This is because her 'baby', a Toyota Camry car is no where to be found. The car, according reports, was stolen at the popular Lagos hotel, Oriental Hotel located along Lekki Expressway, Lekki, Lagos.

Information gathered revealed that Vixen was at the hotel on last Saturday for an media event of YNaija Hashtag. Unable to get a place to park her car at the main parking spot, she was reportedly directed to park her 'toy' at a wing of the hotel.

After enjoying herself at the show she went for, it was now time to go. But alas! Her 'baby' was reportedly no where to be found near the hotel. To make matters worse, it was reported that the security personnels at the hotel could not explain how her 'priced item' got missing.

It was also reported that the hotel management could not provide CCTV footage of how the car vanished into thin air when asked.

An angered Vixen later dropped a message to all, "Tell anyone who cares to listen, ORIENTAL HOTEL is NOT SAFE! My car disappeared into thin air at their parking lot. Be very careful".

Some are already speculating that this isn't the first time such is happening at the hotel. A fun lover told Nigeriafilms.com that Yvonne's case may have been made public because she is a media person.

Jim Iyke Lands In Fresh Trouble

Nollywood actor, James Ikechukwu Asomogha better known as Jim Iyke has landed into a fresh trouble. The star actor, who was gradually getting himself cleared from an alleged 15 million mess with Habiba Abubakar, is about to be dragged into another set of muddy water.

The real twitter handle of Jim Iyke is 'jimiykeofficial'. Jim is presently holidaying on a 12-day vacation in London and Paris.

‘I WOULD HAVE GONE MAD BUT FOR MY MUM’ – OBESERE

Popular fuji singer, Abass Akande, a.k.a Obesere says his mother saved his life from going down the wrong path, due to his romance with Indian hemp.

In an episode of the ongoing Supermom reality show, which featured him and his mother, Taibat Omobonike Akande, Obesere said his love for music and peer pressure got him entangled in the web of Indian hemp at a very early age. ‘I was very young when I started taking Indian hemp but it wasn’t good for my system because anytime I took it, I would just sleep off for about five to six hours. Of course, it became very worrisome for my mother who went everywhere and did everything in order for me to stop but she never gave up on me.’

His mother added that she and her husband were worried about their son’s health and future and had wanted him to be well educated, but young Abass would not budge: ‘Things were so bad that after taking it, I would be the one to go and pick him up where he would have slept off. At a point, I had to consult Islamic clerics to help me pray for him so he wouldn’t bring shame to the family’.

With tears in her eyes, she also recalled all the Fuji music star put the family through in his bid to become a musician but said she’s glad to see what he has become, ‘I’m grateful to God today that he is a celebrated Nigerian musician, a musician that brings joy to many homes and the hearts of many.’

Obesere, who was once signed on to Sony Music, has released over 14 albums and is currently signed under Bayowa Records and Music.

Yinka Quadri Fights Dele Odule Over Bisi Komolafe

Few days back talented Nigerian actor Yinka Quadri and his best friend, Dele Odule were reported to have engaged in a serious exchange of words over a damsel named Bisi Komolafe, another Yoruba actress.

This happened on a movie set for an upcoming Sanyeri movie.

According to eyewitnesses, Bisi Komolafe knelt down and apologized to Dele Odule to get past the issue.

The following day, we learnt Bisi snubbed the actor to avoid another confrontation. The actor quickly called her back and called her attention to the fact that she didn’t greet him.

Bisi quickly apologized and said it was an oversight.

Despite Bisi’ countless apologies, Dele went on abusing her and in the process he called her attention to the fact the he is even more educated than Bisi and his Boss Yinka Quadri.

Actress Bisi Komolofe quickly walked away from the incident to avoid making a scene. She later called Yinka Qaudri’s attention to the matter on ground.

According to sources Yinka quadri was the man who trained and groomed Bisi Komolafe in the Industry.

Bisi further explained the details of the incident to him over the phone she included the fact that Dele Odule called him an illiterate

According to sources on the movie set, Dele Odule quickly called Yinka to report Bisi to him. During the conversation, Yinka simply shut him up asking him why he was calling him since he had earlier called him an illiterate behind his back.

This is not funny.

Guess Dele Odule might have a crush on her.

2011 MBGN Winner, Silva Nduka Floats Hair Store

Silva Nduka, the winner of 2011 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) has floated an hair product store just few months after her reign as a beauty queen ended.

Silva's reign as MBGN queen ended in May 2012. The ex-beauty queen has now settled down with her own beauty outfit. She recently launched 'Silva Hair' on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Her store deals with hair products.

Yinka Ayefele Ungergoes Surgery

Gospel artiste and Member of the
Order of the Niger (MON) National Awards holder, Yinka Ayefele has undergone a surgery. We learnt that the top Nigerian music star went under the knife in order to remove a growth at the bottom lid of his left eye. 


The Ibadan-based singer was said to underwent the surgical operation successfully. He is now at the hospital trying to fully recovery from the surgery.

The Miss West Africa competition exists in 24 countries, 18 within West Africa, and 6 abroad, and is Africa's only queen of queens pageants. Top Lagos Club Owner, Louise Priddy Threatens To Publish Debtors' Names, Pictures

Louise Priddy, formerly with Bacchus Night club, Lagos, has threatened to publicly disgrace some Lagos 'big boys' owning her some amount of money. Priddy, who now runs Posh Cafe located in Victoria Island, Lagos, made this stern warning on her Facebook page some hours ago. 


While at Bacchus Night club, Priddy successfully ran the hangout spot. It was no surprise to many when she left the club to establish hers, Posh Cafe. But she might not be finding it funny anymore as she claims some Lagos 'big boys' are owning her.


According to her, "I am telling all you big boys out there, who owe me money, but go to other clubs to spend until you
get bounced from there, and then you move on, it is ENOUGH. Instead of clubbing, why don't you get a job? It's time to name and shame [you] with pictures [of] who owes me. Get readyyyyyy, MONDAY."


It is no doubt that Priddy is bitter about this, but many would be keen in seeing names and pictures of her debtors released by her. Will she go ahead with her threat if nothing meaningful happens before Monday? Fingers crossed.

I Had Sex With Work Colleague And Confessed To My Husband

WE HAVE been married for four years and we have a beautiful baby boy. I have made the most awful mistake and I honestly don’t know how to make things right again.


I had sex with a man I work with, afterwards I confessed to my husband. We just cannot get back to where we were before this happened


Please believe me when I say that I love my husband with all my heart. I attended a company function a few months ago, got drunk and had sex with a man I work with. I think my drink was spiked, but I have no proof.

I have assured him that nothing like that would ever happen again. Though I understand how he must feel, it is really starting to wear me down.

When you say you know how he must feel – believe me you don’t.


Until something like this actually happens to you, you will never know how he feels, so don’t expect him to get over this any time soon. Don’t assume how he feels, but try and ask him to tell you how he feels and what he is going through. This will help with the healing process.


You are fortunate that he has come back and wants to save the marriage. I know I sound harsh, but these are the facts.


While I understand that you might also be a victim because you believe your drink might have been spiked, it doesn’t make it any easier for him to come to terms with what happened.


It is not as easy as telling him to trust you when you have broken his heart. The words mean nothing unless they are followed up with actions. If this means that you have to report your every move to him and give up on some of your privacy, then do it.

Man Hides £10,000 In Oven; Wife Baked It By Accident

A man who hid $15,000 (£10,000) in cash in his oven was left penniless after his wife turned it on while he was out.


The father of two, from Sydney, Australia, sold his beloved Toyota Supra sports car on Saturday afternoon and stashed the wads of notes in his kitchen oven.


He said he believed the cash would be safe in the oven because his wife never used it.


It was a decision he regretted yesterday when his distraught wife revealed that the money had gone up in smoke.


She had turned on the oven to pre-heat some chicken nuggets for their two girls and inadvertently cooked the cash.


‘It was everything I had,’ he told ninemsn, declining to be named out of embarrassment.


‘I’ve got nothing to my name. That money was supposed to go towards my mortgage.


‘I missed a payment on Monday. I told them “I’ll pay tomorrow” but then the money was burnt.’


After learning what had happened, he set off to his bank in an attempt to deposit the money – but the teller refused to accept the charred notes.


‘I was quite insulted, he said. ‘I asked her to send it to the RBA, I told her “please, it’s all I got” but she didn’t want to.’


A spokesman for the Merrylands branch of Westpac offered an apology today and said the bank would do ‘whatever we can do within the guidelines’ to help him.


The Reserve Bank of Australia has a clear policy on damaged and incomplete banknotes and advises people to take their damaged notes to banks.


‘If several pieces of the same banknote are presented, the Reserve Bank’s policy is for each piece to be worth a share of the value in proportion to its size,’ the RBA policy reads.


‘The combined value paid should be the face value of the original banknote.’


If less than 20 per cent of the note is missing, full face value is paid, but if between 20-80 per cent of the note is missing, it is valued in proportion with the percentage remaining.


If more than 80 per cent of the banknote is missing, no payment is made.

Star actor, James Ikechukwu Asamogha better known as Jim Iyke has disclosed to Nigeriafilms.com in an exclusive and revealing chat that he would take a rest from the hassles of work for a 12-day vacation to London and Paris both in England and France respectively.


Jim Iyke said that he has been working since February 2012 without much rest but has decided to take on this short break. He said he would visit London for his niece's birthday coming up this weekend. This will be followed by a boat cruise in Paris, France for some days before resuming to work.


Disclosing further his programme after his holiday, the seasoned role interpreter said he would proceed to The Gambia to honour his multi-million naira deal he signed with a Gambian outfit few months ago for the production of three movies.

“I Am Not Dead”: Nollywood Director Cries Out

There have been rumours going around that Nollywood movie director, Mr Ndubuisi Okoh passed away on Tuesday, 24th of July in Abia State after losing battle with diabetes.


Contrary to the rumour, the director is hale and hearty and wonders who is behind the rumours.

“Please since today I have been receiving strange calls from both Nigeria and abroad. Am aware from what I hear this morning that one Mr Ndubuisi Okoh a popular movie director is dead, but we coincidentally bear the same name and not in any way the same person.

He however denied that his mother’s advice was his reason for describing Yvonne as such.


“Yvonne is beautiful and sexy. Indeed, she is my kind of girl, slim and tall, oh my God. But trust me there’s nothing beyond friendship.


It is impossible for a lady to replace a best man; if not Yvonne would be the best lady on my wedding day,” Eddie said early this week.


The two actors first met on the set of ‘4play Reloaded’.


A couple of months ago, Eddie and Yvonne starred in Media GH Productions’ ‘Single And Married’.

The locations, props and picture quality of the movie piqued the interest of those who had an opportunity to catch a glimpse from the editing bench.


Some of them wondered if the movie was actually shot in Ghana and applauded Pascal Amanfo, the director of the movie, for a good work done.


There are no reasons to suggest if Eddie has any feeling for Yvonne but he told NEWS-ONE in earlier interview that he was not sure if he would like to be in a relationship, one that could possibly lead to marriage, with a fellow actress; although he said he was in awe of the charming beauties of actresses Nadia Buari and Yvonne Nelson.


“I don’t admire anybody in the movie industry that I would like to go out with.


Not right now. I find them very great but our work schedules are very demanding and we wouldn’t have time for each other.”


At the time, the actor believed that it was not a good idea for people in the same profession to get married and would not hesitate to advise any of his colleague actors not to go down that road.
 “A relationship is not a funny time to have sex; it is not a funny time to have lunch. A relationship is far more than that.


It will take serious considerations for me to marry somebody in the movie industry.


That means we should be willing to give up something and that will definitely be time. We definitely need time for each other.”


“Just look at Nadia and Yvonne, they are always on set. They move from one set to the other; what time would we have to build our relationship?


We might like each other but we will have problems because we don’t have time,” he added.


Before actors could marry, they should make sacrifices, he emphasized, adding, “Look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they are a very good example. They don’t work at the same time.


When Jolie is shooting, Brad is not and vice versa. This is because there must be sacrifices.”

Dele Momodu Roots For Yvonne Okoro

Momodu, the publisher of Ovation International Magazine, has offered his unflinching support to popular Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro to win the Pan African Best Actress at the upcoming 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Award (NEA).


The NEA, which is in its seventh year, honours African entertainers.


It is scheduled to take place via a grand red carpet ceremony in New York, United States of America, from August 31 to September 2.


The beautiful award-winning actress was nominated for Pan African Actress category of the NEA for her role in 'Single Six' from the stables of Venus Film.


She is competing with actresses Ama Abebrese- 'Ties That Bind', Juliet Ibrahim- 'Crazy Scandal', Kudzai Sevenzo- 'Playing Warriors', Jokate Mwegelo- 'Chumo' and Millicent Mahheido- '48'.


The awards are entirely based on fan votes via online and SMS, hence whoever gets more votes will win.


NEWS-ONE sources confirmed that Chief Dele Momodu had been busy clamouring for votes for Yvonne Okoro. He urged all his friends to vote for the actress who on Monday evening returned to Ghana from a business trip to the UK.


Chief Momodou had reportedly extended his support to BlackBerry, asking everybody to support by voting “NEA 20 Yvonne Okoro” to 32051 all networks in Nigeria for her to win.


Reports said online voting would begin on August 1, while only fans in Nigeria could vote via SMS now.


Meanwhile, Yvonne is highly tipped for the award not just because she has an influential and great fan base but because of her looks that complement a Pan African image alongside her great deliveries in movies.


Currently, she is one of the most sought-after Ghanaian actresses in Africa. She is co-winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards and was African Movie Academy Awards nominee twice.


She was a few months ago honoured with a Distinguished Achievement Award at the 2012 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Ghana chaired by His Excellency, Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro, Nigeria's High Commissioner to Ghana.

Top Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus popularly known as 'Gbogbo Bigs Girlz' has alleged that she was mobbed in Lagos yesterday by some of her fans. She also disclosed that her newly bought Honda Pilot car was destroyed by the mob.


The 'plus size' actress, who acted in 'Omo Ghetto' and 'Blackberry Babes', revealed this some hours ago. Eniola also posted a picture of her damaged car by the fans yesterday.


She stated that the incident took place in Ebette Metta area of Lagos. Eniola also disclosed that she might give the option of getting a body guard a thought.


According to her, "[I] never knew I have so much fans. I was mobbed in Ebutte-Metta yesterday. A price to pay for stardom. I think I need body guards."


Eniola Badmus is one of the cross-over actresses that has excelled in both genres of the film industry. 


The damaged Honda Pilot car was reportedly acquired by Eniola while she was in Canada two months ago.

2Face Pays Surprise Visit To BBA Stargame Housemates, Calls Them Celebs

Music ace, Innocent Idibia otherwise known as 2Face Idibia yesterday paid a surprise visit to housemates in the Big Brother Africa Stargame show. 


2Face was welcomed with a warm but long hug from one of the housemates, Janettes, who was overwhelmed seeing the 'African Queen' crooner in the BBA House. 


2Face was then taken to the House' garden by the houssemates where they have vegetables. This was after they all welcomed him. They later talked on his music and also how they would love to have a taste of the music industry.


While responding, 2Face told the housemates that they were already Africa's celebrities. He also told them that they needed to fight poverty in the continent.


The TV show gets into day 80 today. The game is expected to last 90 days.
