My dear Nadia,

I guess last week Friday, the 3rd of August, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in the heart of Accra, will be noted in your dairy as ‘bad Friday’, where you were invited as the maiden recipient of the Showbiz Honours to share your experience with us.

Nadia, I love you, Ghanaians love you, and the world at large loves you. I cannot forget how you premiered on Ghanaian national television with the TV series Games People Play in late 2005, then your first major film Mummy’s Daughter followed, after which you stunned us with a beautiful performance in Beyonce.

You are an exceptional actress, an incomparable lady who understands the business of acting, so I will praise your prowess. I am not going to cast a stone at you for just being nervous on a big stage where your colleagues in the acting world from Yvonne Okoro, Kwaku Sintim Misa, Pascaline Edwards, Ekow Smith Asante, and the invited guest from Nigeria, et al, were all present. The journalists were watching, but that’s okay.

Before I give a tip of what happened on that night, I must note that stage fright is one scenario I will not even want to wish my greatest enemy to go through. Also, I must advise that proper rehearsals on speech delivery should be done by whosoever will be called upon to share a glimpse of what he or she has done before. Nadia Buari fell short of the night when she was asked to come up on stage and deliver a short speech in appraisal to what she benefited from her past reign; then all hell let loosed when our own dearest ‘Beyonce’ got tensed and fumbled. She started on a good note, and then a blip ended her speech.
I sometimes get nervous and comport myself, but my dear Nadia Buari failed to apply comportment, leaving all the faces in the building stunned as to what might have come over the same ‘star’ actress they see rattle lines in top notch movies. Then from where I was sitting, I must confess that I almost concluded that her ability in get this far may have been a fluke; but who am I to judge knowing full well that acting is certainly not the same as standing in front of live audience? We all fall short on the way and sometimes on bigger platform, but our ability to get up and continue the journey which she did, matters a lot. At least somehow she finished reading and then managed to find her way back to her sit.

What happened inside the hall was glaring, but what happened in the washroom wasn’t; here is what happened, out of disappointment, went to the washroom to shed tears. Then your manager tried consoling you before Pascaline Edward joined in the consolation. My dear, you are human so sobbing like the wailing wailers, to ease the pain of disappointing your fans, is just normal.

I will not want to say that the College who stood their grounds in awarding you last year did harm, because you have impressed us for over five years, you have had that public appeal, you are a great personality who has acquired the needed star power. Your professional nominations, awards and achievements both locally and internationally are a sign of your professionalism, dynamism and skill.

Before I drop, I will want to appeal to you, and all other celebrities that to overcome anxiety in public speaking, you must write out your speech word for word only if you think you need to; speak from the outline rather than reading the speech word for word. Practice! Practice! Practice! Please Nadia and other celebrities, practice your speech ahead of time, because we noticed that you had not rehearsed. Tolerate, and learn to live with, some degree of nervousness. Look just above your audience members’ heads. If making direct eye contact with your audience heightens your level of anxiety, then don’t do it. It’s as simple as ABC.

I have chosen to go this conventional in talking to you, telling the world of the ‘super star’ you are. So anyone who have not been nervous before, should throw the first stone, therefore, I feel they should understand that you are human and not spirit, so mistakes can occur. I will say kudos to Emklan Entertainment for the initiative of successfully putting up the second edition of the annual Showbiz Honours Festival, and as well for passing the baton to Stephen Appiah.

DAVIDO, JIMMY JATT, LEAD PERFORMERS TO NAIJA CORNER AT NOTTINGHILL CARNIVAL 2012

Organisers have announced the details for the annual Naija Corner at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival, which holds in London on Monday, August 27, 2012.

Now in its fourth year,  the ‘Naija Corner‘ is the official meeting point for Nigerians at the carnival, with past performers including Banky W, Funke Akindele, eLDee and 9ice.

We’re told this year’s meeting point is on Goldbourne road w10, London. And already, names like Davido, Kayswitch, Mr Solek and Praiz have been announced as confirmed performers. Iconic jockey DJ Jimmy JATT will handle music, while Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Tee A and Princess will handle comedy.

‘It’s the Olympics year and a special one at the Notting hill carnival. Nigerians will proudly join the rest of the world in the spirit of friendship and joy, as we fly the green-white-green high and show the world our culture and values, using our rich music, comedy, fashion and arts‘ Executive producer Abisoye Fagade said in a statement released yesterday.

I Didn't Insult D'Banj, Nigeria Media Are Bunch Of Fools--Wizkid

Few days ago, news went round about a tweet purportedly tweeted by Wizkid with a twitter handle, @wizkidayo. The controversial tweet read, "baby (D'Banj), when are you going to sing with Kanye now? I hate the way he (Kanye) is using you as Akpan. See P-Square chilling with Rick Ross. Haba!"

An investigation carried out by Nigeriafilms.com revealed that the controversial tweet came from a parody account of Wizkid. The said twitter handle was created on May 3, 2012. The tweet has already been deleted from the account.

Disturbed by the mixed reactions the tweet has generated, Wizkid got hard on the Nigerian media, OK Nigeria specifically. The new entrant into the Nigerian media terrain tweeted about it and asked for followers' opinion on the controversial tweet.

OK Nigeria, which is a franchise of America's OK Magazine, tweeted, "Earlier today, Wizkid tweeted at D'Banj. Tell us what you think about it. This tweet got the bad side of Wizkid when he made this known with his response, "used to have a lot of respect for you guys, but you all just proved a bunch of fools. Run your sh*t! Get your facts right!"

Comedian and TV host, Olateju Oyelakin, popularly known as Tejubabyface will wed top model and former beauty queen, Tobi Banjoko on Saturday 1st of September 2012 at the Chapel of Light Interdenominational, Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. Reception is at The Muson Centre in Onikan.

Well, I kept coming home and my house kept feeling empty. I kept leaving events and finding there was someone I would like to tell the story, but there was no one. I just kept feeling lonely. There was a space in my heart that was crying out for friendship. But may be more importantly was the fact that I started making mistakes. I started making mistakes that I had made before and I thought it was over. People I shouldn’t have been fraternizing with, women. I started making all those kinds of mistakes and I wasn’t getting better. There was a point in my life when I was so disciplined that for almost two years, I wasn’t with any woman. And that
was when the *Teju Baby Face Show* was born. And I found that thereafter, I could not seem to replicate the same discipline, no matter how I tried. So, it occurred to me that some thing had to change. So, when you put the loneliness together as well as my inability to be disciplined any more, it was instructive.

I met Tobi for the first in 2008. We were holding an audition for ushers. I wanted to have a show, my 2008 show that was called *Comedy Meets Class*. So, we wanted classy ushers. And at the time she was on her last ushering leg. I can remember I walked into a room filled with about 40 hot women. And she just hooked my eyes immediately. That was the first time I met her. With each of the 39 other girls in the room that day, our eyes would meet at some point. But this one studiously ignored me. It was as if she made a declaration
that our eyes weren’t going to meet. And when I actually interviewed her for the ushering job, she didn’t seem to care. She said the money was too small and she left. So, when I saw her a month later at another job, and I
went to chat her up. I can never forget, she told me, ‘Excuse me, please I’m working’. What she meant was you are disturbing me, and I got the message (Laughs). And so, I started to find out more about her, and I found she was what you can call a ‘good girl’. But you see, that’s not enough. What you asked me was what made me decide? A pastor asked me that question recently. Let me use this word. When I told my father, when my father asked me, this girl you are serious about, what does she do? I said dad, she is a
model. He said explain yourself. I said well, she was in the recent *Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria*. Now, when you tell parents that, they don’t think that the girl is bad. On the other hand, they form a certain world
view in that sense of the word. I had always said that the woman I would marry would be one who would be very beautiful. In 2010, we were trying to date first of all and we hung out after about three months, so we didn’t date again until 2011. We tried to date in 2010, but it didn’t happen. My fault oh! In each of the time we tried to date, there was never any point in time where I had to do any convincing. In fact, on our first date, she came to my house and we needed to go and buy groceries so that we could cook together. And I remember we were walking across the street when I saw a Mercedes Benz, G-Class. And I pointed and said that’s my dream car. And this girl said, on our first date o! ‘Don’t worry, we will have it (Laughs). And I looked at her, then she blushed. And said no, no, no. That’s not what I meant. She has always been like that!


Before she came along, I was panicking; panicked as to how I would marry. Because you see, I was getting older, and there was nobody out there I wanted to marry. I really panicked. If I look at the list of everybody that I have met in the past years, they didn’t seem to be anybody that I wanted to marry. And I thought to myself that if I lived for thirty something years and I haven’t found a woman, what are the chances of me finding her next year, or in the next two or three years. And she just came along, and solved that problem. I am not marrying her because she's beautiful or because she makes me feel somehow. I am just comfortable with her. We are supposed to be married. It’s just like that.
