Behind-the-scenes: Rihanna is low key and make-up free in dance rehearsal footage for new Where Have You Been music video

She may be one of the world's top pop stars, but it clearly takes a lot of work to get to where Rihanna is today - judging by new behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage.
The 24-year-old star works up a sweat in a two minute clip of dance rehearsal footage for her new Where Have You Been Music video With her blonde curly hair tied loose up into a ponytail, the star is make-up free and casual in a T-shirt and black zip up top as she gets stuck into various steps with a troupe of dancers.

Low key: Rihanna goes make-up free and low key in new backstage footage of rehearsals for her Where have You been Music video
The footage begins with a shot of the star with curly blonde hair, bending down towards the camera before saying: 'Footwork, take one'
She makes a point of gesturing towards an unflattering overhead light which she proclaims is 'not cute.'The star then tells the camera: 'I just want to say, right now, we are in dance rehearsals for the Where Have You Been music video.

Upping the tempo: The singer looks extremely focussed during rehearsals

Taking the floor: Rihanna takes centre stage among the casually dressed group of dancers
'Which is, I can't tell you how rare,' she adds. 'Only because my schedule has always been so busy, it never allowed for us to spend time rehearsing and making up dance moves.'
Later, the video's choreographer Nadine 'Hi-Hat' Ruffin pushes the point home, telling viewers: 'This girl I got to chase down all the time.'Rihanna adds laughing: 'I was dancing eating my dinner.''The hour that she was supposed to have for lunch, she wasn't here yet for rehearsals,' added Hi Hat.

Busy schedule: Rihanna, pictured with Hi-Hat, tells fans she cannot usually find time in her busy day to rehearse for videos
The video then cuts to the star energetically performing to the song alongside a troupe of dancers all dressed in workout clothes.
Rihanna then tells the camera: 'This one is just all performance. It's all about evoking an emotion through your body.'The star's casual ensemble was completed by a green cap, gold hooped earrings and chunky white trainers.

Casually dressed: Rihanna wears a patterned T-shirt, a green hat and gold hooped earrings in the video
At one point, she dances in the middle of a group of male dancers who encircle her with a menagerie of different moves.
Rihanna then re-iterates to fans how she wanted to shoot the video using proper choreography. 'I was never going to shoot this video if I couldn't do choreography. Because it would be pretty pointless. It would be disappointing,' she says.

take two: The second day of rehearsals sees the star don a pair of patterned trouser, but the same T-shirt and baseball hat
Let's do it right: Rihanna wanted to shoot the video with proper dance choreography
