For Ogechi Onyonwu, the winner of the first edition of AM Victorious Supermodel Contest in Lagos, it is a dream come true.
Speaking after her victory on Saturday at City Mall, Victoria Island, Lagos, in a modelling competition which turned out to be a battle of beauties and fashions, she called on upcoming models and Nigeria ladies in general to have faith in God, adding that with discipline, hard work and determination, they will go far in life.
Onyonwu, a final year student of Theater Art in University of Benin, on Saturday won at the grand finale of the event, and went home with 2000 dollars and also expected to enjoy one year clothing, as Nigeria ambassador of AM Victorious Supermodel Contest in United State. She was Crowned by Mr Nigeria and Mr Universe on June 30th 2012.
The competition put together by Am Victorious, a United States based fashion company was to promote good fashion and encourage young ladies who are interested in developing career in modelling.
Onyonwu, the 23 years old winner could not hide her joy as she gave all the glory to God.
“I am so happy, in fact I can’t believe this; my dream has come true,” she said.
Ogechi who attributed her success to discipline and her never say die attitude, advised Nigerian ladies on the need to be disciplined in where ever they find themselves.
On her vision for the modelling and fashion industry, she promised to develop a thought for models and also “intends to promote Nigeria Fashion through our identity”.
She expressed her determination to make modelling a career and also encouraged his competitors not to give up in the race.
“I have chosen modelling as a career. I feel great. I love the fashion world, so intend promoting it,” she said.
The MD of Amvictorious Africa, Christy Edoimioya and the Logistic Director of AmVictorious Africa, Richard Ologbosere of Donstyles Kreativity along with The Chief Executive Officer of Creat Ur World Agency, Tunde Afolabi were the organizers of the program. According to them, the event was put together to promote fashion and encourage modelling.
They assured that the next edition would be bigger and better.
