The proverbial saying ‘we give honour to whom honour is due’ has been replicated in the city of Benin; as the 32 contestants for the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2012 beauty pageant, paid a visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin- His Royal Highness Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Solomon Igbinoghodua Aisiokuoba Akenzua Erediauwa I of Benin Kingdom to seek his blessings on Monday, 30 April.
The girls were all dressed in the beautiful Benin traditional attire and were looking like the queens they hope to be.
According to the MBGN spokesman Alozie Uzo, ‘The Oba of Benin received us with open hands, as he wished the girls success during the forthcoming contest. He also promised to send four of his emissaries to represent him at the pageant. Although the girls were scared due to the myth they have heard about visiting Monarch’s palace, they had a swell time’.
The contestants also visited the Edo Orphanage Home in Benin City and showed love to the children by playing with them and sharing some gift items. A cheque of N300, 000 was donated to the home courtesy of La Casera, one of the pageant sponsors.
With only five days to the grand finale, the girls are leaving no stone unturned in making sure that they get to the top 16, as voting has already commenced. May the best girl win!
The grand finale is set to hold on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Best Western Hotel in Benin City.
