Snoop Dogg's Son Offered Football Scholarship To UCLA
Joining Diddy Jr.?
After awarding P. Diddy's son with a $54,000-a-year football scholarship, UCLA have become headline news again after offering a similar deal to Cordell Broadus, son of West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg.
Broadus, who plays wide receiver and defensive back, is just starting his sophomore year at Diamond Bar High School this autumn, and is expected to stay another two years to graduate before he joins the Bruins.
The news of his offer from the university caused social-networking site Twitter to erupt with commentary, with one user remarking:
''Hope ppl don't act like they did with Justin,'' while another was more light-hearted, tweeting: ''Kinda disappointed his last name isn't Dogg.''
Denying his father's influence, 15-year-old Combs wanted to make it clear that the offer was a result of his own hard work, saying,
"Most people think that he being my father, he helped get me the offers, but that's not true at all.
"I went out the whole summer, I went to all the seven-on-sevens, all the college camps and I competed my butt off. I made the most of the opportunity. I did this myself. No one did this but me."
If Broadus accepts the offer, he and Combs will play together in 2015.
